Kovakkai Poriyal( Kovakkai fry) method -2




Ingredients:


  • kovaikai  - 1/2 lbs
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Onion - small
  • green chilli - 2 tsp
  • chana dhal - 1/2 tsp
  • fennal seeds- 1/2 tsp

  • chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
  • coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
  • curry leaves  - as needed
  • turmeric powder -1/2 tsp
  • salt to taste
  •  oil-1 ½ tbsp

Method ;

  • Wash the kovaikai and cut the tip and tail ends.slice them into thin long strips.

  • Heat a few drops of oil in a cooking vessel. Once the oil is hot ,add the fennal seeds and let them turn brown.
  • Add the green chillis and fry for a few seconds.

  • Now add onion then add the sliced dondakayalu.
  • Add salt and turmeric pwd,chilli powder,coriander powder and mix well.

  • Saute on medium heat for 3-4 minutes , keep sauteing them so that it doesn’t burn.
  • Now reduce to low flame and let it cook covered till soft, approx 12-15 minutes.

  • Don’t overcook the dondakayalu,
  • Serve hot with steamed rice or sambar.
