- kovaikai - 1/2 lbs
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Onion - small
- green chilli - 2 tsp
- chana dhal - 1/2 tsp
- fennal seeds- 1/2 tsp
- chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
- coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
- curry leaves - as needed
- turmeric powder -1/2 tsp
- salt to taste
- oil-1 ½ tbsp
Method ;
- Wash the kovaikai and cut the tip and tail ends.slice them into thin long strips.
- Heat a few drops of oil in a cooking vessel. Once the oil is hot ,add the fennal seeds and let them turn brown.
- Add the green chillis and fry for a few seconds.
- Now add onion then add the sliced dondakayalu.
- Add salt and turmeric pwd,chilli powder,coriander powder and mix well.
- Saute on medium heat for 3-4 minutes , keep sauteing them so that it doesn’t burn.
- Now reduce to low flame and let it cook covered till soft, approx 12-15 minutes.
- Don’t overcook the dondakayalu,
- Serve hot with steamed rice or sambar.
