Drum Stick Samber

Ingredients:
  • Toordal-1 cup
  • Oil-2 tbs
  • Photobucket
  • Drum stick - 3 to 4 nos(cut)
  • Small onion ( chopped)-1
  • Tomato ( chopped)-1
  • Tamarind-lime size
  • Turmuric-1/2 tsp
  • Coriander powder-1 tsp
  • Chilli powder-1 tsp

  • Pinch of hing
To season:
  • Mustard seeds-1 teaspoon
  • Fennel seeds-1 teaspoon
  • Fenugreek-1/2 teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds -1 tsp
  • Pepper -2 no
  • Garlic -3 cloves
  • Dry red chillis-2
  • Curry leaf-little
METHOD
  • Pressure cook the dhal for 10 minutes.
  • Keep the kadai in the stove and season with the items given in ‘to season’.
  • Now add the onion and tomato pieces.
  • Sauté for a while.
  • Then add the vegetable, Sauté for 3 minute .
  • Add 1 cup of water.
  • Close the kadai and cook for 5 minutes or till the vegetable gets cooked.
  • Now add Coriander powder ,Chilli powder and turmeric powder.
  • Mean time soak the tamarind and the salt needed in half cup of water.
  • Strain it and add that also into the kadai.
  • Once it starts boiling add the dhal and cook.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
