Ingredients:
- Toordal-1 cup
- Oil-2 tbs
- Drum stick - 3 to 4 nos(cut)
- Small onion ( chopped)-1
- Tomato ( chopped)-1
- Tamarind-lime size
- Turmuric-1/2 tsp
- Coriander powder-1 tsp
- Chilli powder-1 tsp
- Pinch of hing
To season:
- Mustard seeds-1 teaspoon
- Fennel seeds-1 teaspoon
- Fenugreek-1/2 teaspoon
- Cumin seeds -1 tsp
- Pepper -2 no
- Garlic -3 cloves
- Dry red chillis-2
- Curry leaf-little
METHOD
- Pressure cook the dhal for 10 minutes.
- Keep the kadai in the stove and season with the items given in ‘to season’.
- Now add the onion and tomato pieces.
- Sauté for a while.
- Then add the vegetable, Sauté for 3 minute .
- Add 1 cup of water.
- Close the kadai and cook for 5 minutes or till the vegetable gets cooked.
- Now add Coriander powder ,Chilli powder and turmeric powder.
- Mean time soak the tamarind and the salt needed in half cup of water.
- Strain it and add that also into the kadai.
- Once it starts boiling add the dhal and cook.
- Garnish with coriander leaves.
