Kozhi Varuval (Chicken gravy)

Ingredients:

  • whole chicken- 1
  • turmeric powder - 1 tsp
  • curd - 1/2 cup
  • salt - to taste
  • coriander powder - 1 tsp
  • chilli powder- 2 tsp
  • curry leaves - 2 no
  • tomato - 1
  • shallot onion - 10
  • cilantro - a needed
  • ginger - 2 inch
  • garlic - 4 pods
  • fennal seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • cloves- 4
  • cardamom- 2
  • cinnamon - 1 inch
  • bay leaves - 1


Method:

  • Wash the chicken and remove the skin
  • Cut the whole chicken in to big pieces.
  • Marinate it with turmeric, chilli powder,coriander powder, curd and salt.
  • Heat the oil add fennel seeds,cloves,cadamom,cinnamon,bayleaves and then ginger garlic paste.
  • Add chopped onion.

  • Saute the onion till it becomes golden brown.
  • Now add chopped tomato and minced cilantro and let them cook.
  • Add the marinated chicken pieces and saute well.
  • Add 2 cups of water and close the lid.
  • Cook it for 30 minutes.
  • Cook the chicken till the oil separates out and the curry becomes thick and oil gets separated.

Serve it with rasam rice. yummy.......
